Well now you're gonna ruin everything... Might as well link him to the TOS for this board that he agreed to on signing up that signs all intellectual and property rights for everything we post over to those French guys...I was hoping more people would start copyrighting their posts though...because...well it's fuckin hilarious looking. :p

It's either his head is actually up in space and he's just some stuffed shirt, or he's (hopefully not) serious.

There is no way he's serious, I mean come on, putting a copyright after everything he said? lolololololol

That's definitely a death threat.

Really though, post some of your demos. That is, if your actually serious.

All words copyrighted and written by DrumRookie on April 5th and cannot ever be used except only by me.
I know I don't have an actual copyright on these, so of course I can't sue, but what on earth does it matter to you?
(aaaw I did it again..)

I think if you were as serious and as well liked as you claim, you wouldn't be coming to a backwoods forum called "Home Recording" looking for pro beats and production contract connections. If those pro studios you played your smart phone tracks for really liked what you played for them, why did you leave the studios and come here? Nobody in Tulsa or OK City can make decent beats?

You are definitely leaving out some key details here. - Copyright all rights reserved to Justin Hill Aka Baby OJ April 5th 2012 - doin it real big

(I'll donate my copyrights - on this post only - to your future rights.)

thanks for the verse bro :) Just laid it down on my latest single!

While you're at it, why don't you just put your c. notice in your signature so you don't have to type it at the end of every post?

Hate to rain on your parade, but this is what I took from U.S. Copyright Office which is the governments official copyrighting branch.

"What is copyright?
Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works.

What does copyright protect?
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section "What Works Are Protected."

How is a copyright different from a patent or a trademark?
Copyright protects original works of authorship, while a patent protects inventions or discoveries. Ideas and discoveries are not protected by the copyright law, although the way in which they are expressed may be. A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.

When is my work protected?
Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Do I have to register with your office to be protected?
No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section “Copyright Registration.”

Why should I register my work if copyright protection is automatic?
Registration is recommended for a number of reasons. Many choose to register their works because they wish to have the facts of their copyright on the public record and have a certificate of registration. Registered works may be eligible for statutory damages and attorney's fees in successful litigation. Finally, if registration occurs within 5 years of publication, it is considered prima facie evidence in a court of law. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section “Copyright Registration” and Circular 38b, Highlights of Copyright Amendments Contained in the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA), on non-U.S. works.

I’ve heard about a “poor man’s copyright.” What is it?
The practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself is sometimes called a “poor man’s copyright.” There is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and it is not a substitute for registration.

Is my copyright good in other countries?
The United States has copyright relations with most countries throughout the world, and as a result of these agreements, we honor each other's citizens' copyrights. However, the United States does not have such copyright relationships with every country. For a listing of countries and the nature of their copyright relations with the United States, see Circular 38a, International Copyright Relations of the United States."

Oh yeah, and you have to pay for a copyright too.

"Online registration of a basic claim in an original work of authorship (electronic filing) $35
Registration of a basic claim in an original work of authorship on Form CO (paper filing with 2-D barcode-generated form) $50
Registration of a basic claim in an original work of authorship on Forms PA, SR, TX, VA, SE (paper filing) $65
"

Thats just a small chunk of info on what they charge for different copyrighting services.

So really, we could just take every phrase and lyric you put on here and use it in a song without getting sued or paying fee's, because you have no copyright protection for your "lyrics".

Just stating the facts man. Peace out "homie".

^^^ All that, plus throw this in the mix: https://homerecording.com/privacy.html Look at section 3 (it's not long or hard to read - it's actually quite clear. When you sign up here, you do agree that those French dudes own all rights to everything you post - they took over a couple years ago, but before that, I'm sure Dragon had something similar, and probably even a clause where he could transfer it). I'm not a lawyer - I just know that between that whole mess in the TOS here, that whole mess you just posted, and general copyright insanity worldwide lately...

That this thread is funny - now stop being logical, anti-troll. :p

(And a few posts back you started wondering if he was trolling us... I'm quite certain he's not. When I was joking around towards the beginning of the thread I, too, started to wonder what was really going on - I found this: My Rap Career I looked at some of his other posts there, and found equal enthusiasm about all kinds of random stuff he was doing - being a game developer, an ambassador to some MMORPG game or something... I don't remember exactly, but he really is that enthusiastic, for sure. He also wrote me at some point and we laughed about all this to some extent...so he does realize we're trolling and teasing him a bit, but he was still being serious about his intention here.)

....now this thread is ruined, I fear. :( But we'll see.
