Right now at Guitar Satan, you can get a free 2000B when you buy a dbx 386 dual mic pre, or a 376 channel strip. cool.

a 386 is on my "to get" list, but I was going to wait until after I got a new soundcard, and a pair of overheads. but with this deal I'm thinking... hey I'll buy it tomorrow!

As far as I've heard this mic isn't all that, not as good as others in it's price range. but hey it's free. (mostly)

Anybody used one, or have any ideas what I can use it for?

I got $600 burning a hole in my pocket, I'd decided to go the Delta 1010 route, which is why I want the 386 (for it's SPDIF outs) man oh man what to do. would I really be getting a deal? I could certainly live with my GL 496 for a while longer, wont be doing anything where I'll have to have 8 ins for a month or so...

Satan giving out free mics... hmm. suspicious.

How much are they charging for the dbx 386? I think in deals like this that should be your focus. :)

$500 at Guitar Center for the dbx386.

James...you could buy another C2000 for about $170 and use the pair for overheads.

yeah it's temting me...

I had the C2000 and 3000 confused, the 2000 is a small diaphragm condensor right? Although an AKG ad I saw said "smooth large diaphragm sound" or something obviosly misleading like that. Why would I want my small diphragm condersor sounding like a large one?

the dbx is $499, which is the price everybody has for that unit. I NEED the Delta 1010, with it, I'd be able to utilize the dual processors in this machine. With the GL I'm stuck with 98, 2000 sitting useless on my hard drive.

The deal should be good till the end of the month, maybe with my tax return i can get both... I should act now cuz I can't hang on to cash. $100 out of the $600 I've saved burned it's way through my pocket already! :)

grrr...

It´s a large diaphragm, alright

I´ve used it quite a lot for a while...
It looks kinda like a 3000 so they´re easy to confuse.

I would without a doubt go for the deal, jhe!

It´s kinda versatile. I´ve used it both on acoustic guitars, vocals and as suggested before, if I had the bucks I would definitely consider using a pair of C2000 as overhead mics.

Actually, even tho it´s not my music, I´ve also recorded some rappers doing their rhymes with it and the result was quite ok!

hmmm

this is kinda strange.
I´ve read the reviews that the links refer to and they state it´s a small diaphragm but the model I have, bought in Sweden claims to be a 1" diaphragm.
Maybe that´s considered being a small diaphragm in the US ?

i have a c2000b. i like it a lot actually.... i don't have any other condenser mics to compare it to, but, for me it sounds great. i use a presonus blue tube pre-amp with it. i have recorded a lot with it and really like it. i got some songs i made w/ a vf-16 where i use the c2000b at:
www.mp3.com/OriginalOrganism
on Anagenesis part3 i use the mic for all the vocals and for the acoustic guitar part starting at 2:07. on Anagenesis part2, i use the mic for all the vocals. (i'll be putting another couple songs up soon where i use the mic extensively soon)
like i said, i can't really compare it to a lot of other mics, but i'm not horrible at production or anything, and i think the mic sounds great........ for free, it would be really cool! it has never let me down....

I was looking into that deal as well, since the mic is really free. I'm not familliar with that mic either. I would like you to steer away from the Delta 1010, however, because for a small investment more ($799 at Mars or Guitar Center) you could get a DIGI 001. This unit has many features the Delta is missing such as 48 volt phanthom power, headphone amp with volume control, 2 balanced mic imputs with selectable mic/line attenuation and still has the 8 ins and outs plus SPDIF and the other digital formats, plus an excellent sound card and most important of all, ProTools software (the software most widely used in professional recording studios)! Also, consider the fact that the hardware and software are made by the same people so you know where to turn when something goes wrong. I have been using the DIGI for over a year and it produces very professional quality recordings. Another tip is the Oktava mics ($199) from Guitar Center. These mics are unbelievable. As sensitive as mics costing many times as much. Email me if I can help with other concerns.

Well guys, I bought the Delta 1010. Sleepy John, I had considered the Digi 001, but I think the Delta is a much better product. I'm weary of all in one systems. The $250 I saved on the 1010 as opposed to the 001 will buy me preamps much better than those included in the 001. I rather use other software that Protools LE... but that's just my preference...

anyway, I was talking to one of the sales guys at GC, he said that the free 2000B was (as far as he could tell) a mail in offer, so don't exspect to just walk out of the store with the mic. Hopefully I can still take advantage of that deal, money permitting...
I'm spoiling myself, I'm getting a steady paycheck for once and I'm going crazy spending it! :D
