I HAVE THE FOSTEX VM200 DIGITAL MIXER IT COMES W/A BUILT IN DUAL FX PROCESSOR BUT I ALSO HAVE DIGITECH S100 DUAL FX PROCESSOR. THE BOARD HAS 4 FX INSERTS SO SHOULD UTILIZE MY S100? IM COMPLETELY FX DUMB!!! COME ON GUYS HELP ME OUT WITH SOME INFO. IM THE ONLY FEMALE I KNOW WHO'S BUILT A LAB! I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT EQUIPMENT WHEN I GOT STARTED LAST YEAR, BETWEEN THIS SITE AND MANUALS I NOW KNOW A LIL' BUT IM STILL LEANING... MENTORS ARE WELCOME!

the efects on the VM200 didin't strike me as great, im sure there are better fx on the digitech. i cant remember if there's an auxilery send on the vm200. as far as i can remember, if you hit the aux button, it just routed itself to it's own effects. look on the back and see if you've got an auxilery.

the Vm200 ...

IT DOES HAVE 1/4" SEND/RETURN IN AS WELL AS MIDI IN/OUT & THRU THE DIGITECH S100 HAS MIDI IN. SO SHOULD I CONNECT 1/4" OR MIDI IS THE QUESTION NOW?

I'm not sure if the aux send on the fostex is stereo or mono, but connect the sends on the mixer to the inputs on the S100, then connect the outputs on the S100 to the returns on the mixer. From the mixer you should be able to adjust the levels sending and returning.

THE MIXER HAS 1 1/4" INPUT

IT HAS ONE INPUT TO USE FOR SEND/RETURN GO TO FOSTEX SITE IF U GET A CHANCE AND LOOK AT A PIC OF THE RARE PANEL. I BELIEVE IT SAYS INSERT (SEND/RETURN) ON CH. 1-4 FOR EXTERNAL FX PROCESSORS. SO THAT MEANS ITS STEREO RIGHT? NOW Q. THE MANUAL DOESN'T HAVE CONNECTION DISPLAYS SO I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE OUT-INTO THE FX PROC. FROM THE MIXER IS. OR WHAT GOES IN THE FX PROC. FOR SURE IM SORRY I GUESS I NEED THE "RECORDING EQUIP. CONNECTIONS FOR DUMMIES" MAYBE IF U SAW IT OR THE MANUAL ON LINE U COULD CLEAR THINGS UP FOR ME.
PS I HAVE A RETURN/SEND CABLE.

I took a peak at the manual... unfortunately it looks like your inserts are going to be about the only way to use any external effects. since you say that you have a send/return cable. connect the single end to whichever insert jack on the mixer. with the 'Y' end connect the 'tip' (send) to the input on the proc. and the 'ring' (return) to the output on the proc. If your insert cable is a HOSA cable the tip cable will be orange, I believe, and the ring will be grey.

I have no idea why some companies get so stingey with their jacks... I have an 03D console, and where I have 4 aux sends, I only get two returns, and then only two inserts. I end up having to submix my external effects.

i think it's cus fostex want the user to use their own auxilery effects. fostex sent me a vm200 ages ago to try out
and i seem to remember than when i hit the aux button, it just routed itself to it's own effects...which weren't great...
