Focusrite - USB powered or adapter?

Hi all - I am looking into a Focusrite interface and had a couple of simple questions. I like the 2i2, and the USB power, (and have tried a friend of mines and it is dead quiet) but would like a couple more inputs. Are the units with the standard wall adapter just as quiet, any issues, etc?. I apologize for a simplistic question, but I am changing my setup from the Tascam US1800 which will not work with my Mac I have now. (and didnt use all the channels in the 1800 either). Thanks!

Hi JHudson,

If you're referring to the recording noise being silent, then you should not notice any differences between the powered units such as the 6i6 & 18i8 over the bus powered units such as 2i2 & 2i4, they contain the same preamps and converters etc. If you're referring to unit operating noise, again, there is no discernible differences.
