I tried unscrewing the capsule lastnight on my ATM41a mic and broke the two wires that are sodered on to it. I have to resoder them. I can't really tell which point is for the white and which is for red, but there is only two so I have a 50/50 chance. :D

But are there any mods people do to these kind of mics since this one is now named Frankenstien.

Don't think I am just going to let this thread die........................:D

Ummm........

Because is broke so its time to experiment. Duh............

just fix it or spend $100 and get a new one. Duh!......

Id get a small cap and make a filter to roll off the frequencies below 100hz.

hmm.........

That sounds interesting.

Hooking up the wires round a different way would give a different phased signal right? And that would sound different wouldn't it?

Apart from that, I doubt theres much you can do without altering the capsule, which would be a real pain to do.

You could incluse a capacitor attatched to earth to cut out the higher frequencies, like in a guitar.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just kinda hypothesising here.....

Mod means modify or to change its origional state, not the same as repair, dumbass.

I don't know who that was directed at, but the top of this post is "FIXING a 58 // ALSO, are there any mods..."

Seems to me that both are covered in the question.

Where would that hook up at? The two wires coming from the capsule? That would be pimp. No really pimp all the time, but if I added a tone selector or a tone pot...........how cool would that be.......:D

According to this definition, many 58's I've seen have been modified. Most seem to have dented grills. And I've even heard some people say that it does make them sound better.
