OK, this deck has the Dolby logo on the front, so I guess it has Dolby B NR. It also has this red logo that says "Metal." Does this mean the bias is set for type IV tapes?

I'm not familiar with this model, but generally if it just says "Dolby" then its Dolby B, and if it says "Metal" then it will support type I, II and IV tapes. There should either be a tape selector (normal, chrome, metal) or microswitches controlled by the notches in the top of the cassette.

Some really cheap portables had a 'metal only' playback mode (a bit of a con job); so if its a double deck just make sure that it doesn't say "Metal - Deck I" or similar.
