Hey, so last night i finally finished up the computer i was making and started hooking everything up. I hooked the yamaha 01v mixer with adat expansion to the terratec ews88d adat soundcard. i hooked a mic into the mixer and i couldnt get a signal. I ended up hearing it through the headphones but the meter didnt move.
I bought this mixer used a few weeks ago. is there anyway to reset the mixers settings and start from scratch. please help.
any suggestions to start recording on this? i just need to know what setting or where to go to start recording. thanks

To reset the 01v

Simply press the MEMORY button (the red one on the right) and choose the "recall" option.

Is your mic a condesner? Did you turn on the phantom power?

The mic i was using was an sm-57. I was getting sound through the headphones, and it was registering on some things, but not on the meter on the far right of the mixer. I also tried recording to my computer but nothing registered.
I have an adat cable going from the mixer to computer, do i also need one going from the out of the computer to the in of the mixer, or is that only if i am monitoring from the mixer? thanks

My goal for now is just ot be able to get a sound from my mixer to the computer.

1st- Pan/Routing button

Did you route the channel to a specific Adat output? If not, well you have to. Press the PAN/ROUTING button, then, on the channel the mic is, activate the "D" routing option. If your mic is on the 3rd channel, then when you will activate the 3rd "D", the signal will be routed to the 3rd ADAT input.

I'll come back in an hour to see if you still have problem!

see ya!

Hey thanks for the help, i went to the pan/route section and did what you said. I managed to get sound from the mixer to the computer. My first goal successful.
The only problem was that the signal was really low on the computer. The signal on the mixer was fine though.
I just got nuendo but i tried recording to cool edit because i already am framiliar with it.
When i tried recording to nuendo there was no signal. IS there something i have to designate in nuendo or maybe something with the sound card. And also, how do i assign channels on nuendo with channels on the mixer?
Thanks for everyone's help.

Hey, this might be a stupid question, but in order to use the 01v to control the funcitons in nuendo i would have to hook up the soundcard midi connection right? Im still not getting any sound to come through nuendo. i dont know why. but maybe it has something to do with the midi.

Midi will only affect the transport control and not the actual audio. You need to setup Nuendo to record on the same ADAT channels that you have assigned the O1V to send audio on.

so i would need the midi to control the settings with the 01v though?

Suggestion...

You should try to find a 01v manual, and a Nuendo manual, or we will take 6 month to explain how all this works here!

Find the books, or online .pdf and 1/2 hour later everything sould be ok!!

Good luck dude!

Hey, Im so close, but not quite there yet. I got another adat cable and i am monitoring from the mixer.
This is where im at:
-I can record into nuendo, but i cant play back, but...
-I can upload a music file from a cd into nuendo and i am able to listen to it.
-when i go into nuendo i can't listen to music on my computer, such as in windows media player
-the sample rate on the soundcard is at 44100 and also on the 01v.
i dont know what to do? im assuming it has something to do with the soundcard settings or nuendo settings.
