First song

This is my first attempt at a real mix. I would love to hear comments on what a lousy job I did and how I could make it less lousy. Really, I think it sounds ok but I need some experienced ears.

I recorded all the instruments and programmed the drums into a Zoom 1044 digital recorder with a Behringer B-2 vocal mic and a SM-58 for the acoustics. Bass was direct.

hey man, I listened to your tune and think that it is pretty well mixed actually. I AM listening on my shitty computer speakers but it sounds decent which means it sounds even better on better speakers! so, the song is really catchy(a good thing) the vox could be a bit higher in the mix in the VERSE parts. chorus seems good cause you have added a voice. The only porblem I can hear is the vox are a bit off here and there. your voice goes well with this laid back, rocky, country type tune but they need to be solid and on key at all times, know what I mean? anyway, good job, man. peace, the dude

Maybe a little bit much proximity on the vocals. But all in all it sounds good.

Try Eq'ing the bass just a LITTLE bit, but it sounds good.

I think it sounds like proximity on the vocals because I boosted the lows on them. I could cut this back. Thanks for all the comments. I'm aware of the sore spots in the singing where I hit a couple of flats. You learn pretty quickly that performance is the key. I may try to rerecord or at least punch in parts that make me cringe. Singing on key is a lot harder than it seems when you are alone in your car!
