Hello all.
My first post here, and i'm looking for some advice regarding my "home studio" setup and plans, specifically acoustic treatment and sub monitor
First off, please excuse my grammar, as i am not from an English speaking country :)

I live in a "one room" situation, and the room is quite long. I can not, however, have my back to the length of the room, although i know this is recommended. It's a pretty low quality situation, but it'll have to make due.

The use of this home solution will be pre producing for my band. It's "modern heavy groove metal", so for the most part there will be distorted guitars, screaming and lots of drum sound going on here (i'll record guitar, bass and vocals in this room as well. Drums will be programmed or recorded in our practice space).

I have two Yamaha HS5 monitors, and i'm adding some pictures here to help me explain how this looks.
(questions will be at the end)

My right side:

Behind my right monitor:

This back wall is about 1,5 meters behind my head in listening position, and it's made of some sort of paneling.

And last, my ceiling:
It's at an angel with the low side towards my front.

I have ordered some acoustic plates from Thomann
(i cant post links, but they are "EQ Acoustics Classic Wedge Foam Tiles grey")
i'll get 16 of these plates in the mail one of these days, and they are 300 x 300 x 50 mm in size.

So what i'm thinking is i have to do something on the wall behind me. Thinking at least 8 of these plates back there.
I'm also thinking about putting one or two on my right wall, as i have understood that this is a spot where i can get a lot of reflection (using the "mirror trick" and all that)
Now i'm not sure what i should do with the corner behind my right monitor, but this is as i have understood also a spot where bass frequencies often gather up to do unpleasant things to my sound. Can i throw one of these plates in there, or will that just be a waste of material?
Should i get some sort of bass traps in there? the monitor will then almost be touching the bass trap.

Should i put something behind my screens?

My left side is basically just 10 meters of air until i hit another wall. There is a couch that way, and an open doorway into my bedroom.

And should i do something to the corners in my ceiling? Seeing as it is at an angle, will bass gather there in the same way?

I'm also thinking about getting the Yamaha hs10w sub. i realize that placement of this will be more or less trial and error, but first place will be under the desk to the left. Any ideas on whether this would be a disaster, or could work?

I understand that it might be difficult to advice just from seeing pictures, but i'm hoping someone will throw me a few good pointers on how to get my room in the best possible state for mixing.
Thank you for your time :)

Can you cancel the foam order? You need bass traps in the corners. Move the desk to the left so that it is not against the wall (with the speaker's back facing the corner).

You are right in your assumption that facing the short wall is going to cause you all sorts of problems.
Appreciating that you cannot face down the length of the room could you at least face the corner that you are in rather than the wall.
As it stands you are facing the long wall rather than the short wall and you do not have symmetry where your monitors are.
Facing the corner instead would at least create this symmetry.
I would then use the tiles on the wall behind me, on the sloped ceiling above the desk and in the new first reflection points either side of the monitors.
For bass traps I would not use foam, they are not effective in the lower hz's but instead would use rockwool products or rockwool DIY
