Firewire External Drives???

Digidesign certifies hard drive enclosures using Oxford 912 or 924 chipsets in them. You may want to enquire as to what chipset these enclosures are using.
 
No better external drive than OWC, I got a 500GB, 7200rpm FW external drive and I love it, can't wait to get another one. I record via FW on an 003.
 
By the way, I just looked at the link you have... that drive is garbage, you can get an EXCELLENT quality for the same price at OWC, get the 500GB
 
they do recommend firewire drives, but I have always used USB drives partly because I started out on windows and my pc's didn't have any firewire slots on them.

Thanks for that link. I haven't purchased yet, I may not need to but the "snow leopard ready" feature is a selling point for sure.

It's recommended because it's faster. I may not need to use it since I'm basically a songwriter/recorder and I seldom have large sessions with many tracks.
