Are you bringing up a concern of people ripping off your work or of people not wanting to buy the album if they feel that they've already heard the best it has to offer?
No, just some one out there wanting to copy and resell it before I get the chance to distribute it., Yes, I guess, maybe the ripping off in that way but thats what pyrates are about.
With respect to the first issue, I think musicians with any intent to market their work should file a copyright. It's only $30 for an album, well worth it to escape any potential plagiary or other hassle in the future. With respect to the second issue, national acts routinely release albums with only 1 or 2 decent songs to offer. People still buy the album because those songs are the only ones that get any airplay.
I certainly don't advocate making an album full of shite. I'm just making the point that people pay for what they perceive they're getting as much as they do for what they are getting in reality. I agree with you on this one!!!
