Just Killing Time
I play acoustic guitar for some songs with the band, and I'm wonderin is there any capos out there (some kinda special design) that DON'T put the guitar slightly sharp? I can get away with it, but I myself notice the slight difference in pitch. IOW, if I have the guitar perfectly tuned with the other lads, and then put the capo on, it's slightly out. Some of that could be put down to the poor intonation of the guitar, however I know that capos do this anyway.

Also, are there any capos out there made specifically for electric guitar? Could come in handy!

Cheers guys. Happy christmas! :)

It's not the caop's fault, as you intimated- it's the guitar's- strings go sharp when they are fretted and thus bent around the back of the fret, and it the player's- we all push the strings down way too hard.

But anyway, yes, there are. My favorite for not going sharp is a little capo with a tension screw on it's back part- you adjust the tension so it's just enough for the guitar and placement on the neck. That said, I find the difference is hardly noticable when playing with a full band, although I have an OCD bandmate who freakin' insist on retuning after every damn song and capo change.
