I think it would be cool if we started a thread where everyone just lists their favorite mic and pre amp combo for recording vocals so other people can see what's being used and get ideas for future purchases.

Just list your mic and preamp and maybe give a little description of each maybe even the price.

I think if enough people participate it can make a good catalog

Thanks,
Barrett

Just sold my vocal mics and preamps because I wasn't happy with them. I'll let you know in about 3 months.

+2 on the p-1-- great vocal pre.
chain of choice currently is a blue kiwi into either an avedis ma5 or lachapell 583s.

I apologize for making this thread merge off-topic - but yeah... the dude rocks, checkin out his other stuff too: Quattro Lune is a fine piece!

Bravo man - I admire whatever it is you set up to ultimately achieve your sound.

Thankyou very much...I can't afford really nice stuff, so this is what I try to use.....there's the VX2496 and it's older version, the VX2000, 2 on the top of the rack.
Thankyou again for listening.

Haha i know i started this thread but I need to get off topic for a second too.

Has anyone had an ART MP studio, the cheap 30 dollar one? I was wondering if replacing the tubes would be hard, I'm planning on buying three maybe to juice up my toms, throw some groove tubes on there.

Just wondering

I wouldn't bother. Those are not true tube amps in the real sense of the word. They're a starved plate design. If you want a real ART tube amp, you need the MPA Gold. Full voltage to the tube there. Changing the tubes in the MP is probably a waste of time and money.

I've gotten some really good results with my Studio Projects C1 and RNP on a lot of vocalists.
