Hi all,

Last night, I was using my PortaO7. I'm getting tired of wearing headphones all the time.

The whole speaker/monitor thing really confuses me.

Do I need a pair of active monitors or passive monitors?

The manual shows a diagram of running your 2 monitoring speakers into a receiver or amp-type thing, and then running them into the four-track for monitoring.........is this just a plain-old stereo receiver? Or is it one of those fancy routers that you'd see in older home studios?

Any recommendations? I'm tired of headphones.

Paul

Uhh,...

Active monitors are self-powered speakers, with the amp built right into the speaker cabinet. You'd plug active monitors directly into the Line Out or Monitor Out jacks of your Porta.

Passive monitors are like your standard hifi speaker. An external amp or home reciever would be needed to drive the passive monitors. You'd plug from your Porta, to the amp, and the amp drives a pair of speakers.
