I think i am missing some info on how to set up an external FX connection!

As i read, that is possible, but can't seem to get started!

SO is there a way, that one of you experts, could tell me step by step on how to set up an exterenal FX connection?

Let's say i would like to insert a TC-electronic G-major into a mono guitar track instead of using the send which is quite dull in my opinion!

Again i am used to insert an ext FX in PT session faster than i can say cheese, but the N2 gives me some trouble!

I've been a Nuendo user for quite some time now, longer thatn i've been a PT user.
I like it more, but it seems that i know why pro's use PT.
:-)

Doh!! just replied this one in your other post.......

here goes again.........

press F4 for the vst connections tab.

then go to the external fx tab.

press "add external fx"

tell nuendo if you need an mono/stereo send and return.

then tell nuendo which audio connections that send and return should use and connect you outboard unit to them. Then name that external fx bus.

after that you can just choose you outboard unit as a normal vst plugin. that plug-in will be named after the name you gave that external fx bus.

if you press F1 and type in external connection, you'll find even more details on setting up an external fx bus.

i don't know if cubase sl3 has the external fx feature. cos i've never used cubase sl3....

but you can always route an aux to a physical soundcard output and rout that to a outboard unit and route that back to the soundcard input and set an audio channel to input monitor.....

Okay now we are getting somewhere!

It seems that i am not so dumb.
You mentioned the external tab in the F4 folder(VST Connection)!
I see only Input or ouput!

I am using Nuendo 2.0.33.

And the help (F1) does not help me really, because it does not say anything about external FX, i can only find some crap about remote machines and external monitoring!

So please enlighten me!

This is what i gathered from their site! Abotu the new 3.0 version!

# passed an NTSC Telecine process to be readjusted to match the original audio recordings
# External FX plug-ins: Nuendo 3 offers direct integration of external hardware effects processors into the VST audio mixer, allowing you to use your favorite outboard gear just like plug-ins – including delay compensation
# MixConvert is a plug-in capable of translating from one surround format to another, all down-, cross- or even up-m

So mine doesn't have the external FX option?

So i am not so dumb afterall?

OR you use the option in N2?
I am not clear on these!

I'm running nuendo 3 at the moment and i was assuming you were too..

Only nuendo 3 has the external fx feature...
