I'm just starting to record at home using cool edit pro 2. In multitrackview i have recorded drums onto several tracks. They are all synched. I then go on to record guitar, but I started, say, 1 minute into the track.

How do I then synch up my guitar track with the drums so that when I save all the wavs and import them onto anothe computer that's using, say, Pro Tools, they all sych up? So what I'm trying to do is add empty space between the time the drum wavs start and when the guitar wav starts one minute after.

Is this beyond the scope of what Cool Edit can do?

You can do this. What I do is create a blank .wav that starts the same time as the other tracks, then just do a sub-mix of the partial length track with the full length blank wav to create a new wav of the proper length.

There is probably an easier way to do this, hopefully someone a little more adept at using the program than I am will pop in and teach us something.

Good luck!

I was thinking about doing just that, but wouldn't there be any loss or degredation of the wav by doing as such?

Not at all (as long as you're not changing bit depth or sampling rates). That's the way I do it, but I too wonder if there's a "better" way.

this may sound odd... but on teh bottom right corner theres a "length" thing. you can highlight from the beginning of each wav and see how far the space is (see how long the length of space is before each wav)

sorry if that doesnt make sense.
