I would like to take the individual tracks out of the BR1180CD to edit on my PC. But when I did a wav export ad chose *-* for all tracks and v tracks, the CD writer says HDD full. The HDD still says it has 39 hours of music left. You can only select all tracks or one track at a time to export. And the machine won't accept a disc that has already had one track written to it. I don't want to waste 8 cd's and 2 hours just to get one song exported by doing it one track at a time. Is my HDD too full for temp memory needed to burn the CD or something?

Can I use that digital output on the back to import digital files through my SPDIF input on my Delta 1010?

Anybody?

OK what about that digital output on the back of the BR1180CD? Can I use that somehow to transfer seperate digital tracks from my 1180? WHat kind of cable is it anyway?

Yes. A pain isn't it.

What I would do is free up memory. Backup one of your other songs stored on there to one CD-R. Then Erase that song.

Hopefully that should give you some memory to do what you want to do.

Remember also that you should be Optimizing your songs to minimize their memory usage.

I suppose so -- it's a fibre optic cable -- but that would be a hassle. I'd try that last.

Another warning -- when you start seeing HDD errors of any kind make sure you get CD backups of all your stuff because these machines are known to play silly buggers and require a HDD Initialize (reformat) every now and then.

I use the MT1 format

for all my songs instead of the no compression option. The sound quality is fine to my ears, at least for now. But I never tried optimzing after I started a song. I guess I could do that. The thing is I am working on 3 major projects simultaneously, and a few small projects scattered about. So I haven't finished final mixes on anything yet. I don't want to erase anything and take the chance of losing all that work on any individual song. That's why I was hoping to start taking songs off with complete tracks. That way I could finally mix it and master it on my PC, and THEN delete it from BR1180CD.

That's where the problem is.
I guess I can look for some stuff that I don't really need, first make a rough stereo mixdown and then back up the whole song using the backup method. If I lose them it won't be a big deal if I have a rough mix..

Man this is the main problem with the BR1180, no useable exportting of data. It's like building a boat in your basement.

There use to be software for converting the files to .wavs i believe but it is not longer on Rolands site. I'll keep lookin to see what i can find.
