Every use a Yamaha P95 to control a piano VST plugin for recording ??

Looking to buy a P95 but, I'm wondering if the Yamaha graded hammer action translates into MIDI controls, as well as it works on the internal voices ?? I'm using Cakewalk Sonar Producer X1. Thanks
