Regeblow, I'm sorry but you're such a hypocrite when it comes to this. If memory serves, you've been guilty of stirring up a shitload of mass hysteria and gang-banging yourself, so you might want to shut your pie hole on this particular subject. :D :D

Note: I'm not disagreeing with your assesment in the least. You do bring up a very good point . . . and a well-qualified and autobiographical one at that!

Holy God Almighty !!!

I've been sitting back, lurking in the bushes reading this abosolute BULLSHIT post !!!!

#1 Everysong can improve from mastering

#2 There is a difference between mixing and mastering...
---> Too many to go into

#3 Illiy, Illio, whatever the fuck your name is, It must be Russian
for "stupid fuck that don't have a clue."

#4 Dont put shit on here where there are professionals if you
dont bring any KY. Cause your gonna get fucked hard if your
shit isnt ready for the radio. And by radio, I dont care if its a
factory stero system in a car, clock radio, transistor radio, or
my 2000 Watt RMS system in my Mustang Cobra.....oh yeah,

#5 Screw you, you beener, rice ass piece of CRAP. You got a

#9 You havent learned anything from these huys with knowledge

#10 When listening to your beat, I feel like starting a organization
"Save Our Ears". Too many peoples eardrums taking to much
abuse for no reason. I think people will vote my organization
up there with "save the whales"

I'm with Blue Bear, go ask your mommy if you can play in the street. If you were here in Dallas with me, I'd take you by the hand and walk you out into on comming traffic on the LBJ freeway at about 2:00 A.M. Thats when theres the least amount of traffic and the cars are actually moving the fastest.

I wish this bulletin board had a feature like AOL where I could just IGNORE you. I guess just not reading your shit would work, but when I'm down and kind of depressed, I do a search for your name here in the forum to see your posts so I can read some of your shit to perk me up

Cheers

I thought you could.

In regards to ignoring someone. I think you can do that in your options can't you? I know the option of an ignore list is there but I haven't actually used it to know if it works.

I remember BlueBear having enough of someone who was stirring up shit before and he welcomed that person to his ignore list. :D BlueBear does the ignore list work? I'm would think so but I'm sure he'll confirm it, if someone doesn't beat him to the punch.

Anyway good luck with the ignore list!

Ya the ignore feture is in the user cp menu. It will block out all posts and PMs from anyone on the list.

i usually don't read the threads that have a million pages. i sifted through this though. it's hilarious....ha.

Mmm, yah, sure.

Not well enough IMO.... it would work better if it simply removed the offender's posts altogether - but what it does instead is blank out the text with a "This person is on your ignore list" message....

Better then noting I guess.

Thanks for responding BlueBear. I guess what it does do is better then nothing. As I said I haven't used it yet (I'm sure everyone uses or will use it one time or another) though I'm sure I will sooner or later.

Enough said about this loser. I guess he finally shut the hell up.

After my "Twonky's Final Thought"

I think that Illaov's beligerence just shows some ignorance on his part. Ignorance can be corrected. Like I said before it is impossible to convey inflection while typing, so unfortunatly for Illacov he come off sounding like know it all when he obviosly is not. Then he got jumped and reacted to that and the whole stupid thing went pear shaped from there.

Illacov, if you are still out there you should remember that there are a lot of people on this forum that have a lot to offer. I have gained loads of useful nuggets from folks like Chessrock and others. Blue Bear is gruff and often comes off as condecending to my eyes, but, he preaches a good fundimental in making sure that mixing problems are corrected at the source. If things sound bad to you chances are you were not diligent enough while tracking, mastering is a good thing and things like that. As much as you'd like to knock him out, hes right. Stuff I have learned form these fellers that has literally saved my ass when trying to justify charging someone $200/day to record at my total ghetto studio.

The key is humility, even if you think that someone is a total prick just remember that they are just some guy who is in a different part of the country that you'll never have to deal w/ again. So why not soak up all the knowledge you can?
I think a whole bunch jerks on this forum can go piss up a rope but I will kiss ass to find out what I need to.

Personally, I thought your recording was pretty good. Like I said before, not everyone has the same frame of reference as you or I or whomever. They may be total Rush fans who take Neal Peart real seriously (God help them). Or weird Jazzbos that like noodly guitars sounds, blah, blah blah. The thing is, they do the same thing you do: sit and geek out about sounds all the time. They cant listen to the radio w/ out dissecting everything that is happening (what kind of mic did they use for that, thats a lot of compression, Oops, I used the autotuner again) Thus alienating their girlfriends or wives, because they spent 15 hours in the studio chain smoking and listening to a kick drum. But the fact of the matter is they gained some pointers your ass can use, in the process.

I lost my train of thought, but you get the idea.
Pretend to be nice and use this milk this forum for all its worth. And if someone pisses you off, ignore them, even though its hard.

I saw a clever internet thingy that said: arguing on the internet (and this is not necessarily directed at Illacov) is competing in the special olympics; even you win, you're still retarded.

almost every mix i've made for the past year has sounded so good on my monitors that i didn't want to "master" it.

unfortunately, when i compare the unmastered versions to other hip-hop/r&b/reggae CD's it falls far short on volume and dynamic control.

so i have to master singles to be hot enough to match the current trend and in the classic mastering sense i have to master compilations so that each song is played at the correct level with the songs that surround it otherwise DJs and radio won't play it because louder is better.

don't be caught behind the fletcher-munsen curve. if you do, you won't get spins.

The Reality of it all

is that whilst im being hammered by a few well informed dick heads with nothing better to do than ignore their own foibles

I will not take Blue Bear seriously until he admits he called a sunth module a reverb unit.. it may see like something small to you but at least i looked into my gear purchases before making any statements about them.

As for mastering according to Blue Bear... I sincerely hope that the material he has posted on his page is based off samples he downloaded and not what he recorded im not a big fan of oblique mixing but if you're gonna do it at least give the chick singing a glass of water before you get her to sing
sinoid city man what the fuck where you thinking?

Im not exceptionally happy with your viewpoint of me being this snob thats you.

As for people who came into this convo late and made stupid comments

thats ok

its typical

what more concerns me is that you guys have the fucking nerve to insinuate that anyone here is a professional to some holy high degree.

if these professionals are working 15 hour days where the fuck do they find time for this shit (the forum dickhead)

point being businessmen stay busy

right now im not busy because we're remodeling as for the rest of you guys i hope thats your excuse too

ill be long gone in a week once the renovations get finished

as for your assumptions about what im using

take your time with your slick comments before you miss the point

a bad mix can be fixed

this song has since been fixed re mixed and edited

as for Bears comment about distortion

thats funny considering i didnt clip or distort anything to inputs when i actually recorded this song if it came out that way after i converted it to the mp3 then i cant help it

the only thing on the song that i used distortion on was the bass

but of course you immediately used your professional phallic title and assumed it was amateurish of me to what??

record the song clean as a bell distort only my bass guitar and leave everthing else pretty much under light compression and use some verb and chorus on the verse and chorus

but by the same gesture your interpretation of a professional mix is a nice typical pop rock song with overhyped mids and highs and almost no bass response

so perhaps the kind of music you're used to recording has you kind of blind to whats going on my genre of music.

Quick question wtf is every body mentioning loops whenever hip hop is brought up?
Who the hell USES LOOPS in hip hop ANYMORE?

Im surrounded by fucking fakers...I use a damn synth module and somebody has the nerve to claim casio sounds better but im not crying about that cuz either way if i had a casio im laughing to the bank right now with my casio sounds. Here let me give you a quarter so you can call someone who cares

bullshit rant snipped yes much like the Blue Balled Bear

I resent all fuckwads who own recording studios and cant seem to get over the fact people dont need them anymore...so they get on them about expertise and yadayadayada...im sorry that Epic cut you down like they did alot of people..why dont you put your fuckin studio on ebay so you can recoup your losses?

Me i opened a label

CEO
or See my cock

I still own a company i still run that bitch and we still get paid to do our thing

Im glad that life is fulfilling

next time i need some cocksucker to slap a BBE and a Aphex on my mix so they can call it PRO

ill remember to call you
until then

Thanks your help

I know you're angry illacov. Those feelings are perfectly normal, and you shouldn't be ashamed.

It wasn't your fault.

We can get you all the help you need, but you need to answer the question.

Where did he touch you?

Illacov,
Learn how to put a sentence together. For all I know you may have some good points, but I can't even follow your train of thought. Most "professional businessmen" know how to communicate in written form.

Personally, I feel that NONE of my mixes ever need to be mastered.

Until my new friend plays them on her stereo and I notice how different the songs all sound.

Funny, I thought I'd check out "Mount Olympus Records" on the web, seeing as it's such a professional business that employs so many people, makes so many records, and is affiliated with EPIC Records. There has to be some kind of web presence for such a great record company, right?

Here's everything I found:
