has anyone here tried a clear pinstripe on their snare? how about other non-coated heads? i'm looking for a head that will be kind of thuddy, but that will still allow ghost notes and rolls to be heard.

I use clear and coated depending on what mood I'm in.
The clears give great attack and sustain and the coated a more traditional sound which is great for Jazz or Classic Rock.
If they are good enough for Dennis Chambers they're good enough for me!
Also try a Remo Fiberskyn on your snare. It sounds awesome!
