Hi,

Now I know that technically it is incorrect to follow "guides" for mixing, but I've been looking everywhere for some kind of list that shows the frequencies associated with different instruments. I have seen them before, they list each instrument common in a standard mix and say stuff like "Kick: click at 3-5khz" etc.

I've seen a couple on this forum in fact. And forgotten to bookmark. If anyone knows of such a guideline online I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Sammy.

Yes Studio buddy is a good choice. I also remember a book tat I have that has some good info for "separation". I will look for it and let you know what it is. Just can't remember off the top of my head (happens as you get older).

OK, I found them:

Recording and Producing in the home studio (David Franz)
How to get great sound from any studio (Karl Coryat)
Home recording for musicins for Dummies (Jeff Strong)

And most of all:

The Complete Idiot's Guide To Home Recording (Clayton Walnum)

This one has a great EQ and separation section. Hope it helps.
