as long as we are talkin about free eq's, this has caught my eye:
AiXcoustic Creations: Electri-Q - posihfopit
Thanks! I'll be trying that out.

So, if you cut 400hz by 3db on 2 different parametric EQ's, you'd hear a difference between one EQ and the other? I'm not saying I don't believe you because there's no way I can prove you wrong. But I find that hard to believe.I can hear differences between one EQ and another. Definitely. I'm not lying and I'm not sure how my ears can be wrong but, perhaps, it could be down to how accurate visual scale is?
But I find that hard to believe.

I'm sure all that's true. But I still say Dr. Varney can't hear the difference.I learned over in the live sound board with the big guys that digital speaker processors, which use the same parametric eq terminology, don't always have matching results with the same settings. Apparently the math used to construct the filters varies, so the filters and the sound vary between products.
And then you have the difference between minimum phase and linear phase filters. They definitely sound different. Linear phase filters can get resonant at aggressive settings, but they are free from the phase effects of IIR filters.
I'm sure all that's true. But I still say Dr. Varney can't hear the difference.
