I am with richard...
if you swap PUPs w/ the same electronics - its a matter of 10 minutes ... if you go deeper (coil-taps / pull-push pots) you should make yourself familiar with schematics ... or take it to a pro
on the other hand ... it is very hard to really break something (supposing you use common sense) - but hooking up a PUP the wrong way will not do any harm.
a lil tip: before unsoldering stuff in the control cavity - take a few pics with a digicam ... so worst-case you can go back to "before"
