Hey guys. Im looking to get into my first computer recording thing. Ive been using adats for a while. Im just wondering a few things.
(Im planning on the 1820M)
I need to know-
-If it has monitor outs and headphone outs
-How many tracks i can record total
-How many tracks i can record at the same time
-And if i need a mixer- cause the one im using is a friends so i dont have one.

Thank you all a lot.

*sigh*

Anyways, any output can be setup as a monitor out, a mix out, or any individual channel out.

You can record any amount of tracks total...as limited by your software. Most high-end software is unlimited except by CPU/hard drive. I think the Cubase 5 VST that comes with it is limited to 72 channels.

simultaneous inputs are your 8 analog ins, 2 on a SPDIF in, and 8 ADAT in, assuming 44/48 khz. (Total 18) At 96 khz, you get 4 ADAT (standard smux) ins and subtract a pair from the analog. at 192, you got 2 analogs (or was it 4?) and 2 smuxed ADAT ins.

If you need a mixer, you need a mixer. I know I don't need a mixer. You can do all your routing with the patchmix software.
