EMU 1212m and connecting it...HELP!

Okay, I am a computer person but I know NOTHING about music. I am trying very very hard to set up a mini studio for my boyfriend as a surprise and I can't get this stupid thing to work. I bought a little Yamaha 10 chan board and the EMU 1212m. I put the card in my machine and started looking at hooking everything else up and I am sooooooo completely and utterly lost. I have it hooked up but I am only getting sound out of the left speaker and it is sooooooo low you can barley hear it.
Is there ANYBODY out here who can Step by Step tell me what plugs into what and where?? I have to have it plugged in wrong. THere are no device or driver conflicts so that is not the problem. Please help, I will be eternally grateful!

I have the EMU 1820M which is an entirely different beast, otherwise I would be glad to help you out. May I humbly suggest that you post your question at the EMU 1212M forums here?:

Thank you very much for your assistance. I actually figured it out about and hour after I posted my question. It had to do with my subwoofer and the cord not being RCA. So I got a new cord...and YEAH!!! Thanks again!
