is anyone here familiar with Eluvium?.......... or Appleseed Cast's "Low Level Owl" series...... i want to know if i can make that sort of sound and music with my current equipment........

M-Audio Omni I/O with Delta 66
fast computer running Cubase VST32/Ableton/Reason
Tascam 2-track tape recorder
Yamaha MG10/2 10 track mixer
Alesis Nano Compressor
Art TPS II tube mic pres
Line 6 guitar POD
Line 6 DL4 delay pedal
cheap keyboard w/ various instruments

...... what would you guys use? what would you add? .......... any equipment suggestions? ...... effects unit, patchbay, software?
....... any techniques to suggest?........ bussing, routing, downmixing? layering? experimenting?

i have been recording for quite some years now, and am BARELY starting to get deaper into the details of recording, .......... the tricks and experimenting you guys are so used to.... i want to go beyond "set levels, record, mix".

I'm only really familiar with sigur ros' latest, but was in shoegazer bands since '91. Try using the input channels of your tascam as a distortion device. Brad Laner from Medicine almost exclusively did that. Also run the delays/reverbs before that, even. The reverb will carry into the overdriven preamp, and it sounds way cool. Also an old My Bloody Valentine trick was the old "full-wet reverse reverb + whammy bar" thing. Try running a distorted keyboard & bend the notes. Throw on a rev reverb plugin full wet, then delay it. Cheers.
