I was seriously thinking of ordering 2 RN PorticoTM 5012 preamps, but would have to put them on the credit card. I talked with Josh at RND for quite awhile. I was hoping to rent one, but they don't rent. He assured me if I use it for a week, and don't like it, I will get my $ back. I liked that. The problem is I hate to go in debt, so I looked in my music $ bucket(I put all my gig, cd sales, tshirt sales $ in a bucket). I had about $600, so instead I ordered 2 more EH preamps. I think they sound nice, are priced fairly, and I paid cash for them. I should get them this week-can't wait! In the fall, I will have enough $ to buy a couple of the 5012's, upgrade my samplitude software, and get a m-audio 1010 souncard( I am limited to 4 track recoding now with the delta 66). I will be posting some songs soon with the new preamps. Walter

and wow, i got a negative rep for that post... really wish someone would take some sort of action for this, i'd imagine it's become quite annoying for some people, including myself now. shill for stating it's better than a behringer preamp? wow... haha.

Yep - all of us who've expressed any kind of enthusiasm over the EHX pre have been sustaining neg-rep points. Pretty silly.

i feel as though we should start a club... the prerequisite being that you must have received negative rep in return for posting about a decent product from a well established company :: ducks ::.

The preamps arrived this morning! 2 days from NJ to Ca. Not bad. They arrived like the first one, very well packaged and in perfect shape. We are having our fence redone around the property, so there is a lot of noise going on. I will probably have to wait till the weekend to try these babies out. I want to give a 5 star plug to guitar effects pedals.com! Walter

I don't actually remember getting any :)

Guess I'm clear ;) for now.......

amen... very smooth transaction with those guys.

Not to hi-jack this thread - but what is a negative rep? I've seen it mentioned time and again, but my search of the forum rules came up empty. How would I know if I got a negative rep? Who or what penalizes you and for what transgressions???

this is a shot in the dark, cause I'm not sure either - but I always assumed it meant "negative reply".

Okay, I'm going to take my negative rep hit by posting into this thread, but here's what negative rep is:

See that little "scales of justice" icon in the upper right corner of each message window? If you click on that it opens another little window that allows you to give positive or negative feedback to whomever wrote the post. So if you like what someone wrote, you give them some positive feedback and you can make a comment to them as well. However, if you think someone is being a jerk or don't like their post for whatever reason, then you can give them negative feedback. Most people that leave negative rep don't sign their names on the rep, kind of wimpy if you ask me. Many people that do leave positive rep do sign though, and often leave comments of why they liked what you wrote or whatever.

When I first started on this site I didn't like the whole rep thing, but now I've gotten used to it, and it is nice when people leave me some feedback and then say why they did. Actually, some who have left negative have left comments too, and I appreciate that as well.

However, the whole feedback thing has turned into sort of a game for some, which kind of perverts its original intent I suppose.

You can see what your current feedback rating is by going to your User control panel. Anyway, that's the basic story behind "rep".

Thanks Sonic Albert for the excellent explanation. I never realized that this system existed. I'll definitely be more cognizant of how my comments may be construed.

Wow - I had no idea what that was...

and to show exactly how it works - for responding to your post incorrectly (though I clearly stated it was a shot in the dark) I got the following:

"Wrong, dumbass! "
"Suck on this. "

For every good guy on this forum, there are eight a**holes.

I just got my negative feedback as well, for posting the explanation of how feedback works, only mine said:

"You need a good hard kick in the dong."

Rather entertaining actually, but shouldn't that be "kick in the balls"? Speaking of balls, I think it's obvious the folks lacking them are those who leave anonymous negative feedback. ;)

I added to your rep to make up for the one someone took from you. I'm like a Super Hero.

thanks guys, it's kinda funny... i've gone from having 18 rep points to 53 (was 55 before i received the "Smooth like a greased weiner, I'm sure" response). i would like to thank whoever is responsible for the negatives, your nack for cock humor has helped me gain the somewhat meaningless "street cred" you are so diligently fighting against. god bless the internet and the mock power it gives to the people too immature to move out of their parents' basements.
