i want to find a good reverb/sound ehnancing type rakc unit to add to my live rig, but somehting i could also use as recordingtoo.

but i really want to find a footswitch of somekind that i can use it to control when im paying, because i dont want reverb on eveyr second of the song.

i was looking at the lexicon mx200, and im veyr impressed with that, and ive heard so many good things about it and with the vst plug ins you cant go wrong, but is it good for live shows? is it worth getting even if im limited with changing the effetcs during show. or is there a footswitch i can buy for that rack unit??

thanks

You list it like you have it, yet you are asking if you should get it????

Just my opinion, BUT........... I think reverb should be added through the House board. The guy out front running sound for you will be able to "verb" you so you fit in the mix.

Unless you are going for some special effect that only you know for a small part of a song. You also have listed a Alesis Midi verb3 on your list of items. Wouldnt that work. Why would you need a second processor just for reverb??

Also, does anyone use rack gear for processing for home recording now a days? I was thinking all that is in just about every recording software, or desktop recording device.

because i had the money for it before and it was all set up to get it but then i realized about the footswitch problem etc. and i ahvent bene on this thing in a while to change it. it WAS a sure thing at one point. my bad

i have the midiverb 3 yes, but i dont like it very much. the output on it takes away a lot of my tone from my guitar/amp, and it gives out a lot of reverb for what i want. granted there are some great effects on it, dont get me wrong, but i want somehting a little better. and something with vst would be really nice.

I will take my Lexicon MX200 plate and hall reverbs over my UAD-1's Dreamverb everytime, well almost every time, a dedicated processor with dedicated RAM can do wonderful things for reverb and I only paid $160 for it, I can't imagine having a $2000 Lexicon or other such unit from a different brand. And having VST control over it is the cats meow.

Do you know if the "VST control" can be wrapped with FXpansion VST to RTAS adapter to be used in ProTools?

I would say that if you have a wrapper to run VST's in Pro Tools, you should be good to go!

I use my lexicon 200 in my live rig, however I do use verb in every song.
myspace.com/shiptoshoretheband it's a pink floyd meets u2 band (post rock)
I set it on large plate and let it go...you could control through midi too. I use a 79 marshall 2150 all tube amp and an ibanez js guitar (mostly). sounds great for my needs
