Hi all

I'm new to this and have just bought the card to do some recording (I am very poor). I've installed it (ie plugged it in) and I can record through it (although it sounds rubbish, but that's a problem for a different thread). My main problem is that I can't hear anything when I play back through it - I only know the recorded sound was bad because I changed the settings in 'Sounds and Audio Devices' in the control panel in Windows back to the original on board sound card.

The problem appears to be that in the Volume tab in Sounds and Audio Devices in the Windows control panel, the Device Volume is set at the lowest level, and is greyed out so I can't access it. If I change it back to the on board card, the Device Volume is available and hence I can hear sound.

I'm running XP on my PC. I hope all the above makes sense. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. I've got all manner of masterpieces in my head that the world needs to hear !

You need to install the drivers that came with the unit --- the CD that was in the box. I hope you didn't throw it away, because if you did you'll need to google the Edirol web site for replacement drivers.

Every symptom you say you have is typical of not having the correct drivers installed in your system.

I knew I should have also said that I installed the drivers ! I even downloaded the latest ones just in case, and reinstalled them. I might try that yet again. Do you have any other ideas ? I'm tearing my hair out.
