I finally decided that the kind of rhythm tracks I want to build need a dedicated tool. My style is to use only real (often sampled) drum sounds; nothing synthetic. And I build everything from scratch. No prepackaged loops. Also have discovered that I'm very particular about the GUI on software I use. Did a bunch of research for my rhythm-building tool and settled on Fxpansion Geist. Then I saw the price tag. Yikes! Is there anything similar in look/feel/function that won't cost that much? Please?

i haven't used it but I've seen Sonivox Pulse suggested as a more affordable alternative.
