So I'm thinking about picking up an Echo Mia, but unfortunatly the only reviews I have found just repeat the promo blurb from the website. Is there anyone who has used this card that can offer comments? Strengths, weeknesses, etc...

Thanks,
Mike

Ive never used it but Echo is a trusted name in digital audio...probably has very decent converters and a good signal/noise ratio....drawbacks are converters are on the card (my Delta Audiophile has this also and it doesnt cause a problem) and it only has a stereo input...if you need multiple ins/outs, this isnt your card...if you only need a stereo input, I think youd be happy with it....

Actually, another thing that Gidge's post just reminded me about is the Mia's ability to use multiple cards in one machine. Does anyone know if a second card could be added later to give a total of four mono inputs? For now, I only need to record one stereo track at a time so a single Mia is fine, but I could forsee the need to add more in's later. And one more question, what is the advantage of ballanced in's. I know that the Mia has ballanced in's, where as the Audiophile does not (correct me if Im wrong 'cause I could be).

Well, cheers and thanks for the input.
Mike.

you can install multiple echo laylas so you can probablly do the same with mias. you cant do this with cheap cards like soundblasters because the software cant recognize them as seperate cards but most high end cards made for recording don't have this problem.
