Ebay - silver SM57 - fake or not?

Are you sure that isn't a black microphone with some camera glare? :)

 IDK, that could be I guess, I never considered that. Nobody else's auctions have pics where the mics look so light, and all this seller's completed 'new sm57' auctions went for about $64 on avg, which is pretty low. Maybe they're spooked by the weird pic too,

The pic makes it look gray. Look at the clip. Also look as his other items. They are all in the same color as the 57.

That is pretty trippy!

The guy's other sales are largely similarly colored "black" microphones, so it probably is just bad photography.

It looks like the picture was too dark, so he just turned up the brightness. All of his other pictures look like this too.

Silver or not, at that price it's almost certainly a fake.

I'd call that one a fake, but in terms of the colour I think its just the lighting. I've seen definitely-genuine SM57s look that colour before - just imagine seeing the world through the eyes of a bad cameraphone!

On the SM58 this disclaimer looked curious to me

"**Many of our items come for international markets. Likewise, they sometimes will not match the US version 100%."

That makes me think that is probably a knockoff.

HA no shit, good catch.. What a shady market, pisses me off..

The switch on that "SM58" also look nothing like the switched 58's I've used. The Shure ones always have a weird bit below the switch.

None of my SM57s or SM58s even have a switch...but I am positive they were legit...I got 4 from a pawn shop at 25 bucks each.

I don't think there's such thing as a switched SM57 (apart from fake ones). The switched 58's are quite uncommon, which is probably why the faker's aren't so good at faking them (but at the same time people don't know how to spot a fake).

Send the fella a question and see what his response is. I bought 6 a few years back for a buck and a quarter. 4 of them had road rash pretty good, but worked perfectly. Those things are bullet proof.

I believe you can get the 57 and 58 switched or no switch.
