Hey all,

I aint to sure if this has been done before, but i'll give it a whirl. What kinda of earplugs do you use when jamming and playing a live show?
Dose wearing plugs when playing a show effect your sound ect?, Anyone know the name of the pro ear plugs, that kinda form into your ear?.

I am saving up for a pair of the form-fitted ones now. I currently just use the foam ones. It took me quite a while to adjust to the new sound. I tried the $10-$20 kind that have diaphragms inside, but they physically hurt my ears. One thing I did was to wear the foam ones during the day when not listening to music and get used to hearing how things sounded with them in.

There's a consumer middle of the road musicians ear plug called Hearo's or something similar. You can typically pick up a pair at a big box guitar gear retailer (e.g. Guitar Center here in the states) for about US$35. They're pretty good at reducing frequencies a little more flatly than foam earplugs.

This is the kind I use, both for playing and going to see shows. Less muffling than the foam ones, but still attenuate pretty well. I've been using ear plugs for so long that it's hard to remember that post-jam deafness.

I just started using Hearos. It takes some getting used to, especially with harmony singing, but it was wel worth it last night when my ears weren't ringing while I was trying to sleep. These were $15 at my local guitar shop.

I just use the basic foam ones about 3 euro a for a pack of 2. But after a while, they get dirty as hell! but keep the sound out ;). In my music room for everyone who comes in we got the big builder head-sets :D .
