e609 and the e609 silver?

I was lucky enough to pick up a few of the original 609s and they have been a great addition to my mic locker. It's hard to get a bad close mic'd gtr cab sound.

I couldn't find a good use for the silver although I'm sure there is one.

if it was me, and i had to buy a 99$mic for git, it would be a 57, and not a 609 silver.

I like the silver more. I have used both, and the silver seems to sound closer to the original 409, and the guitars seem to sound a little more natural to me. (even though the silver has a bigger presence boost.

Strapped for cash? You might want to consider a used EV 635a. They sound great on gtr, snare and some vox. They routinely go for ~$50 on ebay.

Jesus you guys make the same posts over and over and over and over. There are at least 10 lengthy threads on this exact same subject. The search function is there for exactly this kind of question/answer.

Whoever it was said they would take a 57 over the 609 Silver is smoking from the glass pipe though. 57 sounds more boxy, has less (can we so NO) rejection and doesnt look as cool. There are 3 reasons to get a 609 right there. Better mic, by a better mic company.

There was a guy a while back selling the original blackface ( ) e609's for 130 bucks......I thought that was a very good price for some new old stock....only 30 bucks more than the silver.

It's a totally different animal than the 57.
