Does anyone have experience with Duncan Turner acoustic instrument preamps? Brand name is D-TAR. They seem overbuilt with a lot of thought and engineering, but I can't get my hands on one to listen to. I'm thinking mostly of the Mama Bear effects box and the Solstice blender.

I don't have any direct, hands-on experience with the gear, but I can tell you that I don't like his name. I'm not sure if it's because the first AND last name has two syllables, or if it's because he has two last names. For the record, I'm not a fan of people with two first names, either. Like Rick John or Mark James. I also don't like people that use a capital letter for their first name, like L. Ron Hubbard, or G. Gordon Liddy.

Unless it's two different people's last name. If that's the case, forget what I just said. I don't like it for a different reason. Because it's deceptive. It should be Duncan/Turner, or Duncan & Turner, or something similar.

Hope that helps.

Yep, in this case it's a collaboration between Seymour Duncan and Rick Turner.
I've not had hands-on experience with the Mama Bear, so I can't comment on that one. I did get a chance to A/B the Solstice with the K&K Sound Quantum Blender. For my application (live electric bass w/ mag and piezo pickups), the D-Tar seemed a much better fit w/ features like an effects loop blend and footswitch-able mute.

I have two questions for you.

1. What new meds are you on? and

2. Can I have some?

Which one of you has two first or last names? Or has an initial for a first name?

And I never caught this before, but Seymour Duncan has two last names, so now I have to swap out the SH-1n '59 I just put in my Stratocopy.

Good News!!!

I checked the site and it's actually Duncan|Turner Acoustic Research. AKA D-TAR. At this place. Gee, ez - You were right all along!! Must be you got to them early, huh.
