Hi former Planeteers,
I too am sorry to see the VS Planet site go down and I am anxious to know why.
I just thought I would share that I recently bought the DS-90A digital powered monitors. I read the many past observations on monitors at the VS Planet site. I guess monitors and microphones seem to bring on very intense feelings among recording enthusiasts. It is obvious that there are many serious and knowledgable production people here. By the lack luster reviews of the DS-90A's among the VS Planet Crowd I was shocked when I finally heard a pair myself. I was completely knocked out. The clarity was amazing and the bottom-end clear, punchy and warm. Of course, I love the digital connection as it keeps the system silent when it should be. I also considered the Mackie's, although their expense put them in a different category. I have been a huge fan of Genelec, but the 6 1/2" pair I like is still around $2000, too rich for me now.
I have a good friend who swears by the Event series. They were serious contenders in that price range.
Anyway, I am very happy with the DS-90A's and my VS1680. I make my living in the studio and on occasion I am now able to bring a few of those projects home and pocket the studio money, that's the real payoff.
Here's to the age of the project studios!
have a great week!
