SMX_Dizzy said:Hey. Sometime I'm going to be buying two mics for overheads for my drum set. I've been looking around, and the MXL 2006's look pretty good. http://www.music123.com/MXL-MXL-2006-i144706.music Do you have any other suggestions for mics that are great for overheads for drums and are only $99 each? If there are any mics better than these for the same price, I'd want to go with them. Thanks!
I've had good luck with a pair of Nady CM-90 mics for overheads. Of course, I have separate mics for the toms/snare (5x AKG D2300S), and kick (D112), so the OHs have plenty of support. I don't think I'd choose the Nadys if I didn't have the support of those other mics, although with different placement, I might be happier with them by themselves, hard to say.
I'd definitely give the (Russian) MK-012s a shot if I had a second one. Seems like it would be a decent overhead mic.
My biggest piece of advice would have to be to avoid the Nady DM-90 (kick mic). It's not horrible, but it's worth the extra money for an AKG D112 (or the Shure equivalent, if you're into that sort of thing
