Recording with 2 Tascam 234's. Then dumping tracks into ProTools LE.
Am finding it like impossible to match analog tracks up with original
click track in ProTools. This makes it hard to record a full song with
20+ channels as you can imagine!
I've tried slightly altering the pitch control...but its not really the
answer.

Anyway to sync up the Tascam unit with ProTools via midi or something?

Looking for methods, answers????

thanks yall

Ross,

Old-fashioned timecode would be the answer, but you would give up at least one track per 234 to do it, most likely two (one for the SMPTE code, one as an empty guardband to prevent leakage into the music.)

Then you'd have to get a synchronizer that reads/generates/converts timecode to midi (or MMC)
info and ties to your PC. That's for starters; then you get into which is the master machine and which two are the slaves.

I have not had my hands on a synchronizer for years, but go to EBay and look under 'pro audio', under 'synchronizers', or by name, for JL Cooper. They made a variety of reasonably priced units for such purposes.

The problem with your set-up, as I said, is the loss of tracks, but perhaps that's something you can work with.

Sorry I don't have a more detailed explanation as it has been a while since I did that, but those are the basic building blocks.

Good Luck,
C.
