I see a lot of people who have double kick setups (right handed setups) and their hi hat is place so far out to the left that it seems extremely awkward to reach to it... (Chris Adler, Lamb of God for example)

Anyone else do this? I just can't see how this can be comfortable or ergonomic... Anyone have any insight on this?

Some hi-hat stands can be mounted to the left kick. Or you can use remote hats. Or you can use double pedals instead of two kicks. Or you can man up and just deal with it.

There is a mounting bracket that allows you to clamp the hat stand (legs folded up or removed) to the kick. That gets the hat pedal close to the kick pedal, but it can also put the hats in the way of the toms if you have a lot of toms, which I guess is why some guys leave it off to the side if they don't use the pedal much.

I've got a double kick (just pedals) and I just bring my HH stand in to where it's comfortable and use my left toe on the kick and my left heel on the HH.
Takes a little finagglin with all the stands bein right there but it works well for me.

Wait....were you talkin about 2 kick drums or just a double pedal?

Don't they also have a remote pedal for the hihat?

I use remote hats, they are great. I decided to place mine between the rack toms, I never looked back.
