I have a Double Bass, a AKG D65S mic and a old Cardiod Electret powered mic.

I like some help on the best places to postion the mic or mics to get the best sound for recording.

My favorite Double bass sounds are used on Erkah Badu and Represent and I like to get as close as possible to those sounds.

If possible....
and help or suggestions would be great.

I'm not familiar with the recording you mentioned, but I got great results in the studio this past Friday with a CAD Large Diaphragm mic set to cardiod placed about 9-12" directly in front of the bridge. The engineer intially set it higher up, but it picked up too much string/finger noise. We lowered it to bridge level, and the sound was to die for. Keep in mind though, I play pizz only, so no bowing was involved.

If you're interested, I have a sound clip of the same mic technique (but with a much cheaper mic) that I recorded at home posted in another thread in this forum. The thread is called, "A very simple (I hope) mic pre question".

Good luck.
