Make sure you are protected by Buyer Protection Policy whatever that is for the sight. Follow the rules so you are protected. Personally I would not even risk it. I got shanked on ebay once and it took a year to get my $1500 back.
 
This is a fn scam, no doubt.... This one's obvious, but sometimes they arent.. I've asked sellers to send me a pic with fader #12 all the way up and the rest down, the fx unit on channel 19, a pair of drumsticks on the snare, all kinds o stuff..

If it looks too good to be true, IT IS!~!!!!

This guy is from Croatia, right? Or at least that's where he says the gear is coming from? Tell this guy your wife's family is friends with someone by the name of Damir Polančec, or that your cousin's name is Ana Lovrin, and that they live in croatia, and that they'd be happy to deliver the cash and pick up the desk for you in person, and see how he responds.

(Those happen to be the names of, respectively, the Croation Vice Prime Minister of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, and the Croation Minister of Justice.)

I had a guy at a bar talking to me like that once. He was trying to convince me to make him my band's manager, and in exchange he would tell me what kind of music to write and he'd market it to all the right places to make me a LOT of money. I told him to draw up a contract and a business plan including all of his marketing plan before I'd consider it... he insisted that real business people take care of all their deals in bars after having 15 drinks and all deals are considered done with a handshake. :)

I second the idea of telling him you have relatives in the area that can pick it up, I love the answers they come up with, You don't have to give them names just asking for local pickup should do it!

I WISH I had nothing right now... I've been out of the office for 5 days in the last 2 weeks, I got an overflowing inbox of work to do.. I'd pay $.04 for a big pile of nothing instead!
