pacman9000 said:I know real player and winamp definetly sound different on my computer, real player sound better even though I like the ui of winamp over rp's.

P-J said:Not always-- I mean unless you know what library is being used to decode/play the audio, you can't really say what is being done to the audio stream before it reaches your audio hardware. Dithering, for example.
Just a thought.
That is interesting. I dropped nearly $200 this weekend on an audio interface. Just two years ago, I would never spend more than $50 on a whim.Zed10R said:I don't think the definition of "expensive" is the issue. I think the issue is that many people feel that, for some reason, stealing software is ok. maybe because you can't actually hold the 1's and 0's in your hand..I dunno...but for those folks, $20.00 would be expensive.
danny.guitar said:I'm guessing by libraries you mean codecs?

and no, eq is flat, once again you have no idea what you're talkin about, you're an idiot.

Q: IS A SOUNDCARD THE BEST WAY TO GO? I HAVE 1 PCI SLOT AVAILABLE BUT i DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND...HOW WOULD I FIND OUT?
Q: WOULD A FIREWIRE INTERFACE OR USB INTERFACE AUDIO INTERFACE BE CHEAPER AND JUST AS EFFECTIVE?
Q: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AUDIO INTERFACE AND SOUNDCARD?
MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:
Q: IF I GET A SOUNDCARD CAN I PLUG MY MPC DRUM MACHINE AND KEYBOARD DIRECTLY INTO THE SOUNDCARD AND EQ/COMPRESS WITH THE SOUNDCARD, OR DO I NEED A MIXER?
Q: IT LOOKS LIKE MOST SOUNDCARDS UNDER $500 HAVE ONLY 2 INPUTS, ISN'T IT A PAIN TO HAVE TO RECORD TRACKS 2 AT A TIME INTO THE MULTI-TRACK RECORDING SOFTWARE?
Q: I'M INTERESTED IN THE SOUNDCARD/USB/FIREWIRE SETUPS PEOPLE HAVE, AND IF THEY USE A MIXER AS WELL OR DO YOU EQ WITH THE RECORDING SOFTWARE?
