hmm.. Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks and the old Wu-tang solo PJ's would be great to start with..

thanks for your support erwin and i understand where u are comin from but there is really nothing you can do about this day in music....as of right now i am trying to get a thing goin to bring hip hop back cuz the direction it's going now is horrible. i remember waitin in line at the music store to cop a new cd and never be dissapointed but now everytime i pick one up and get in line i wonder how much i'mma hate the thing due to lack of creativity, everything seems to sound the same or be in the same area with some recycled lyrics and chicken noodle soup and that british chicks songs are really makin me mad wit how big they got and that is not i repeat NOT hip hop it's crap

Lets Please Stay Mindful Of The Difference Between Hip Hop Music N Rap - Rap Music . . . Rap Music Has Always Been And Always Will Be Carbon Copy Music That Sells Quicker . . .
Rap Music Is Like Pop Music . . . Sex, Fun, Extravagance Sells
Hip Hop Music Is Like R&b Music . .. True "musicicianship" For The Sake Of The Craft - It Has Never Sold As Musch As Pop Music (on A Whole)
Personally I Cant Stand A Lot Of Whats On The Radio - But When Did The Radio Become The "guide" For Hip Hop? Its Always Been The Baromter For Rap Music, Pop Music, Commercial Rock Music . . .

In All Genres, There Is A True Musicianship/loveof The Culture Side And A Corporate, Money Making Side . . .

Frustration Comes From Confusing The Two Sides.
--i Mean, During Old School Hip Hop Music Era (bdp, Epmd, De La Soul Rakim, Public Enemy) We Were Not So Caught Up With The Radio . Word Of Mouth Is All We Needed And Most Hiphop Artists Went Gold If They Were Good - The Hip Hop Fan Base Has Almost Always Been "gold" Status

Rap Music Is A Platinum Selling Artist/business Move. Rap Music Is Not Suppposed To Be The Vanguard Of The Culture . . . . Its For The People Who Dont Like Or Have Anything To Do With Hip Hop Culture - But Like Dancing In The Club On The Weekend . . .

Maybe I just don't respect pussies. I thought all you rap haters were rockers. The only rockers I know that turn down are infact... too old. You guys have fun listing to your Jimmy Buffet at low to moderate volume. I think I'm gonna keep bumpin my music till everyone hears it. Free publicicty. I'll just shove it down everyones throat (who can't ignore a little loud music for 10 sec at a stop light).

I don't hate rap.

I think your attitude typifies what I dislike about youth culture.

I have a three year old son who doesn't need to be exposed to words like "ni66er" just yet, let alone at 115 db.

What a jerk.

I didn't pay 1500.00 for my car system just so i could turn it down when i get to a stoplight. I bet you wouldn't care if i was blasting some nickelback though huh?
It doesnt matter who it is, its rude, selfish, and childish. Just because YOU like your music does not mean everyone else does. If you want to be treated with respect maybe.....just maybe, try respecting others around you and see what happens.

And just for the record, I hate Nickelback.

I'm officially done wit this topic and i'm goin back to helpin people cuz thats wut this board is for.....you wanna complain about somethin or post your word of thought go to the cave and do it

You dislike "Youth Culture." I'm guessing that you get back every bit of respect that you give. So if you aren't getting any maybe it isn't the "youth culture" that is to blame. You act like you have some right to not be disturbed by moderately loud music for a passing few moments or that somehow people bumping music is a sign that the entire 15-29 yr old poputlation is distainful. But the truth is that maybe the best thing to do is lighten up and realize that some people like loud music. And if you aren't one of them just wait until the light turns green or maybe... roll up your windows?

And who's really to say. What if I don't want my 3 yr old to hear someone blaring Aerosmith. He could grow up to like that shit!!! So just let that top button loose man. It might do you a world of good.

And I hope your kid grows up to love rap. :D

btw that shit you quoted was SARCASM. but I guess you didn't see it that way.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing this generation that has followed the hip-hop, rap, whatever scene in about 20 or so years when they're in their 40s, 50s. Will it still be their music of choice then? I can't seem to wrap my mind around that image yet.

Yeah, that helps.

You go ahead and justify disrespecting people while admonishing them to show respect. And thinking that people who criticize youth culture don't are somehow unable to respect it. Grow up.

maybe you should grow up and realize that you have no right to appeasement by others. I've never heard of the right to not be annoyed, anyyway. People will listen to music you don't like at volumes you don't approve of. Learn to live with it. Don't be such an old curmudgeon. A little acceptance goes a long way. Like I said; with respect, you get what you give.

I have to say I agree with you, fam.

I enjoy loud music, but there's a distinct difference between an enjoyable listening level, and an obnoxious "I want the world to hear my music" level. The later of the two is blatant disrespect and complete disregard for our fellow man. It says "look at me, I'm a rebel, and I don't care what YOU think". It's a pathetic attitude that permiates not only the youth culture, but the baby-boomer culture as well.

Regardless, the same actions of disregard will continue amongst mankind until society as a whole admonishes this type of behavior, and rewards respect amongst individuals to promote it throughout society. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon, as we live in an indivdualistic and self centered society.

Hip-Hop as a whole, allows the "me first" mentality to flourish. I hate that. As if respecting people as people is wrong. Why do YOU have to EARN my respect before I'll consider you as a person with rights of their own?

Ahh.. I could rant on and on. I think I get it because I'm a father, and I hate it when these disrespectful kids drive by my house at 1:00AM with their stereos blaring at 120db and my son wakes up from it... I could slap every one of them...

To all of you who think you have a "right" to blast your music at obnoxious levels, or disregard everyone else because they haven't earned your respect... Grow up. You're simply feeding the downfall of society as we know it, and I hate you for it.

The exception...

I agree that blasting your music loud is disrespectful.

However, though I have yet to actually try this, I'd like to roll through a rich, racist area with Public Enemy blasting, dressed like a S1W. :D

man please... Downfall of society. The downfall of society will be people that seek to outlaw breif loud noises because they are "offended" by them. I don't bump my music at 1am in a neighborhood but I do around town. And if you can't take a little loud music for a couple of seconds get a life. You guys are hardcore.... ;)

Change - I think that's the point that's hard to get across i.e. looking at this issue through the eyes of a parent. Good post though. Lordy momma, what's the world coming to when an old fart white rocker agrees with a young rapper. :) And it is all about respecting one another, pretty simple really.

By the way, the kid must have kept you up late last night. I don't think I've ever seen you use the word "hate" before.

Hey mrT, the next time you're sitting at a light with the music cranked just take a look next to you and see that angellic little face smiling back while your rig is blasting out the m.f.'s, G-damns, c*cksucker, etc.

I have actually asked guys to turn it down in public when smaller kids were around (because of the language, not strictly based on volume ) and you know what...they were real nice about it and did turn it down. I know y'all are desensitized to the language but a lot of people aren't. And it is a little disconcerting when my mirrors are vibrating when my car is sitting still and my CD player is off.

I don't just sit in my car to bump my music for one. And as long as people aren't dicks about it I've always turned my music down a little if asked. I think it's rediculous to say you shouldn't listen to loud music in your car because it might offend someone though. And there is too much stereotyping going on about "those damn kids" for my taste.

Wow! I've been following this thread for a few days, and read through all of the posts (I think).

This is definitely a hot-button issue.

Let me first say that my primary preference in music is country.

Anybody ever heard Motorhead? They're pretty damn loud, too. I'm sure there are people that may blast their Motorhead, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or whoever. This isn't just a "rapper" issue. I've even heard guys blaring country music out their windows.

I think part of the problem here is that the "loud" music overtakes the music the person in their car may be listening to.

Yes, I know windows could be rolled up, but that isn't always an option.

I used to (not any more, I have a family now) want to be able to have a sound system where when someone was playing loud music, and was playing it beside me at a stoplight (or whereever) I could turn my music way up, then it would become a battle over who had the "louder" stereo.

I guess the big question is do we (anyone who enjoys any style of music) really need 1,000 watt stereo systems in our cars to truly enjoy and engross ourselves in the music we love?

I don't think it's a volume issue, I think it's more the fact of explicit language being heard by children.

If you're older than, let's say 22, and you still have a "system" in your car that you have to blast (rap, country, rock, whatever), you're a tool. Period. Grow up. You look foolish. Doing this alone drops your respectable level to zero. Sure, you may have many other respectable aspects going for you, but those become unquestionably nullified.
