You guys have fun listing to your Jimmy Buffet at low to moderate volume. I think I'm gonna keep bumpin my music till everyone hears it. Free publicicty. I'll just shove it down everyones throat (who can't ignore a little loud music for 10 sec at a stop light).
It doesnt matter who it is, its rude, selfish, and childish. Just because YOU like your music does not mean everyone else does. If you want to be treated with respect maybe.....just maybe, try respecting others around you and see what happens.DesertEase said:I didn't pay 1500.00 for my car system just so i could turn it down when i get to a stoplight. I bet you wouldn't care if i was blasting some nickelback though huh?

I think your attitude typifies what I dislike about youth culture.
I have a three year old son who doesn't need to be exposed to words like "ni66er" just yet, let alone at 115 db.
What a jerk.
I'm guessing that you get back every bit of respect that you give. So if you aren't getting any maybe it isn't the "youth culture" that is to blame. You act like you have some right to not be disturbed by moderately loud music for a passing few moments or that somehow people bumping music is a sign that the entire 15-29 yr old poputlation is distainful. But the truth is that maybe the best thing to do is lighten up and realize that some people like loud music. And if you aren't one of them just wait until the light turns green or maybe... roll up your windows?
mrT said:... roll up your windows?

Yeah, that helps.
You go ahead and justify disrespecting people while admonishing them to show respect. And thinking that people who criticize youth culture don't are somehow unable to respect it. Grow up.
I have to say I agree with you, fam.Supercreep said:![]()

Ahh.. I could rant on and on. I think I get it because I'm a father, and I hate it when these disrespectful kids drive by my house at 1:00AM with their stereos blaring at 120db and my son wakes up from it... I could slap every one of them...

And it is all about respecting one another, pretty simple really.mrT said:man please... Downfall of society. The downfall of society will be people that seek to outlaw breif loud noises because they are "offended" by them. I don't bump my music at 1am in a neighborhood but I do around town. And if you can't take a little loud music for a couple of seconds get a life. You guys are hardcore....![]()
erwin boutay said:Hey mrT, the next time you're sitting at a light with the music cranked just take a look next to you and see that angellic little face smiling back while your rig is blasting out the m.f.'s, G-damns, c*cksucker, etc.
I have actually asked guys to turn it down in public when smaller kids were around (because of the language, not strictly based on volume ) and you know what...they were real nice about it and did turn it down. I know y'all are desensitized to the language but a lot of people aren't. And it is a little disconcerting when my mirrors are vibrating when my car is sitting still and my CD player is off.
mrT said:I don't just sit in my car to bump my music for one. And as long as people aren't dicks about it I've always turned my music down a little if asked. I think it's rediculous to say you shouldn't listen to loud music in your car because it might offend someone though. And there is too much stereotyping going on about "those damn kids" for my taste.
I don't think it's a volume issue, I think it's more the fact of explicit language being heard by children.mjr said:Wow! I've been following this thread for a few days, and read through all of the posts (I think).
This is definitely a hot-button issue.
Let me first say that my primary preference in music is country.
Anybody ever heard Motorhead? They're pretty damn loud, too. I'm sure there are people that may blast their Motorhead, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or whoever. This isn't just a "rapper" issue. I've even heard guys blaring country music out their windows.
I think part of the problem here is that the "loud" music overtakes the music the person in their car may be listening to.
Yes, I know windows could be rolled up, but that isn't always an option.
I used to (not any more, I have a family now) want to be able to have a sound system where when someone was playing loud music, and was playing it beside me at a stoplight (or whereever) I could turn my music way up, then it would become a battle over who had the "louder" stereo.
I guess the big question is do we (anyone who enjoys any style of music) really need 1,000 watt stereo systems in our cars to truly enjoy and engross ourselves in the music we love?
