Do I really need to learn mixing and/or equalization?

If you are going for the raw/natural sound, and are using natural instruments like guitar - some people won't mind that it isn't equalized

But if you want to make the post-production sound higher quality, and more of a listening experience then you may want to learn how to mix/equalize the sounds so you can have a better listening experience
