My mixer (Yamaha MG16/6FX) has both line and xlr inputs. I'm using a Boss GT-6, and most of the time, I plan on just micing the amp anyway. But just to keep some options and possibilities open, I'd also like to run the GT-6 straight to the mixer every now and then (mostly for some of the funky stereo effects). So the question is, since my connections all match up (line inputs on the mixer, stereo outputs on the GT-6), do I even need to pick up a DI box? I know you need these when running an amp to the mixer, but what about just using effects processors with built in preamps?
If I do need one, I was looking at those cheap little Behringer DI's with the two channels, again to use with stereo effects. Considering that these are like 25 bucks, just how bad are they?
