Do I even need a DI?

My mixer (Yamaha MG16/6FX) has both line and xlr inputs. I'm using a Boss GT-6, and most of the time, I plan on just micing the amp anyway. But just to keep some options and possibilities open, I'd also like to run the GT-6 straight to the mixer every now and then (mostly for some of the funky stereo effects). So the question is, since my connections all match up (line inputs on the mixer, stereo outputs on the GT-6), do I even need to pick up a DI box? I know you need these when running an amp to the mixer, but what about just using effects processors with built in preamps?

If I do need one, I was looking at those cheap little Behringer DI's with the two channels, again to use with stereo effects. Considering that these are like 25 bucks, just how bad are they?

you only need a di for live (to get the outputs into the stage snake) otherwise just plug the outputs of the boss into the line ins of the mixer and rock out.

It depends on if the impedance of the Boss matches up with the impedance of the line input on your mixer. Line inputs on mixers generally aren't close in impedance to that of a guitar itself, but your pedal's output impedance might be different. Look in the tech specs of the product manuals to see if they're close.

It will be better matched than a guitar. That boss thing you have, is that a pedal or an all-in-one guitar pre that is suposed to be plugged into a poweramp?

use the line in on the board. You will be fine. If it has a speaker simulator option, use it.
