just wondering if anyone knows
if I can run my amps speaker out into a DMP3 and use it as a D/I... without blowing everything up.. or frying the lil guy

thanks...

Uuuuhhh....no. It's meant to accept line level signals. That would hardly be line level.

No. Perhaps there is a line out from the amp? Or how about a microphone? :D

yea.. im sure theres a line level...
ive used a behringer guitar d/i before.. as a speaker level.. and it sounded great...
i was hoping the dmp3 would do the same.. so i could get a multi purpose pre..

ive got a three guitar band coming to record in a couple of weeks... and i dont have enough good mics to cover them... i guess i could buy another behringer d/i theyre pretty cheap...

any other suggestions...?

I have no idea what you mean by that. You plugged the amp's speaker output into a DI?

yeah, i think some of the behringer di's do a dummy speaker load.

The Behringer DI's have speaker "simulation".....I don't think you'll find a regular DI box that creates a dummy speaker load, that would be different device alltogether.

But if you want to connect the line out from your amp to the DMP-3, you'll be fine.

While you are right, you still can run an amps speaker output to the Behringer Ultra DI as a way to send that signal to a low impedence input.

Not sure how that would sound, but, that DI can handle it.

I would imagine you still need to hook the speaker up to the amp via the link or through jack, though, right?

they say you need to hook the speaker up still with a tube amp... but not with a solid state... i hooked the speaker out directly into it and it sounded great with no extra dummy load.. didnt fry the amp either for a 3 hour tracking session...

does anyone think ill get a good sound with the line out of an amp into a dmp3?

it seems like a good cheap option..

(thanks for the replies too)

Really depends on the amp. Some of them have a pretty usable signal, some of them are horrible. You said you just don't have enough mics to cover everybody. Are they against doing overdubs and recording seperately?

ya it sounds like they are against overdubs.. i dont know if its money related or skill related.. i was able to talk them into doing at least the vocal tracks seperately.. so i dunno...we'll see...

maybe a set of mics would be a better option.. (though more expensive)
