DM 5 program

I just got an Alesis DM 5. I want to use to enhance kick and snare sounds when needed. In vvveerry simple words,can anyone tell me how to enable this damn thing to give me a snare and kick sound? The manual might as well be in swaheli.I never worked at NASA, nor have I preformed brain surgury. I just want to take a direct out from channel 1(my kick) feed it into the DM5 then out and into an empty track on my console..then do the same for snare,Thanks,Jim

You're gonna need to know a good amount of theory, analog/midi/and dynamics processing before using the DM5. The book explains it well enough. Study it.

Hi Jim,

You send a signal to one of the inputs on the DM5, and send an output back to the board.

Turn off all your tracks except for the kick.(this is juts for your listening while trying to adjust this)
hit the "Note Trace" button.
got to the "Ext. Trigger" button. Set your curve at 7, then adjust your input signal so that it's "firing" accurately.
