Dithering problem with soundforge 5.0

I've got a 24/44.1K file, and I'm running the waves L1. I set the plug in to dither at 16 bit, and process. However, my file remains at 24 bit. What's wrong? Should the plug in process the file and bring it down to 16 bits?

What in bejesus am I missing here??? should I RTFM?

If you want to dither the file to 16 bit, click down at the bottom of taskbar in SF where it says 24 bit file which will open a pop-up box then convert to 16.

In SF 5.0......

PROCESS>then>BIT-DEPTH CONVERTER

That'll do the trick.
